{"id":1052,"date":"2010-08-13T17:02:16","date_gmt":"2010-08-13T16:02:16","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.skodarallyblog.com\/?p=1052"},"modified":"2010-08-13T17:02:16","modified_gmt":"2010-08-13T16:02:16","slug":"front-suspension-part-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.skodarallyblog.fun\/?p=1052","title":{"rendered":"Front Suspension, part 2"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Well, it could be more. \u00a0It certainly seems to have been going on a while, but in between doing the car there have been other things to do, like work(!) and also replacing the garage roof (the garage isn&#8217;t big enough to get the car in other than just to put it in there, and there&#8217;s too much stuff in there at the moment, in case you&#8217;re wondering why I work on the car outside).<\/p>\n<p>Anyway, I&#8217;ve made more progress on the front suspension &#8211; last time out the hole was drilled, but there was a problem &#8211; the hose from the top of the strut to the remote reservoir would foul on the inner arch or the spring, and it took a fair bit of messing about to get it all lined up properly so that it will not rub or have a very short life. \u00a0These are the kinds of things that you&#8217;d think take minutes as you&#8217;d &#8220;just bolt it on&#8221;, but getting it like this probably took 3 hours or so of messing about!<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_1053\" style=\"width: 660px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.skodarallyblog.fun\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/full-lock-1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1053\" class=\"size-full wp-image-1053\" title=\"full-lock-1\" src=\"http:\/\/www.skodarallyblog.fun\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/full-lock-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"650\" height=\"456\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.skodarallyblog.fun\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/full-lock-1.jpg 650w, https:\/\/www.skodarallyblog.fun\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/full-lock-1-300x210.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 650px) 100vw, 650px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-1053\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Turn it this way....<\/p><\/div>\n<div id=\"attachment_1054\" style=\"width: 660px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.skodarallyblog.fun\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/full-lock-2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1054\" class=\"size-full wp-image-1054\" title=\"full-lock-2\" src=\"http:\/\/www.skodarallyblog.fun\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/full-lock-2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"650\" height=\"456\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.skodarallyblog.fun\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/full-lock-2.jpg 650w, https:\/\/www.skodarallyblog.fun\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/full-lock-2-300x210.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 650px) 100vw, 650px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-1054\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">... and then the other.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Yes, the cable ties will be trimmed &#8211; they are holding a larger piece of hose which is protecting the real hose from damage (thanks to Chris Rice for that tip).\u00a0\u00a0I&#8217;m pleased to say it seems to have all worked out nicely. \u00a0In fact, even better than I thought &#8211; the reservoir can be sat in the &#8216;air box&#8217; area, rather than in the engine bay so a) it won&#8217;t be in the way, and b) it&#8217;ll be nice and cool. \u00a0In addition the reservoir is located really firmly on a couple of captive jubilee clips, so it almost looks proper!<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_1055\" style=\"width: 660px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.skodarallyblog.fun\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/remote-reservoir.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1055\" class=\"size-full wp-image-1055\" title=\"remote-reservoir\" src=\"http:\/\/www.skodarallyblog.fun\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/remote-reservoir.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"650\" height=\"488\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.skodarallyblog.fun\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/remote-reservoir.jpg 650w, https:\/\/www.skodarallyblog.fun\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/remote-reservoir-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 650px) 100vw, 650px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-1055\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">All nice and cosy in the engine bay.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>The left hand side has been drilled, and the strut is in place (much easier when you know the position to put it in), but I can&#8217;t finish that side as I&#8217;ve got to wait for the paint to dry on the huge hole in the inner wing. \u00a0And it&#8217;s started raining again!
